CAMERA CABLE
The most important cable to have is the camera cable. The cameras we offer all use a Sony 14-pin EIAJ connector. This locking connector provides a seperated video signal to the portable recorder which is carried with the camera. This cable also can provide power to the camera using the recorders battery supply. This eliminates the need to carry 2 sets of batteries. The additonal pins are for intercom/tally and the ability to control the camera settings including pedestal, gain, white balance, iris setting, and chroma levels. This control is possible with the use of a CCU or Camera Control Unit.

 | Like the 14-pin cable above, the 26-pin cable was introduced with Betacam and provides the standard contacts, plus the additional signals for the Beta format. It also provides the additional information that the viewfinders provide. |

33-PIN CONTROL CABLE
This cable is a 33-pin serial cable. It controls the tape functions of U-matic machines. It is used to connect editing machines to one another or connect remotes to editing decks or players. These allow an editing deck, like a VO-5850, to control a slave/player deck, such as a VP-5000. These cables are necessary when a video needs to be assembled from pieces of footage on several decks.

 | 8-PIN MONITOR CABLE
These 8-pin monitor cables are used to directly connect a recorder or player to a SONY PVM series monitor. The difference between these cables and BNC cables are that these carry audio as well as video, so there is no need for two sets of cables. |
DUBBING CABLE
Dub cables are used to make copies from one machine to another without a loss of image quality. These 7-pin connectors seperate the video signal into components rather than combine it into a composite. These cables are essential if the highest quality dub needs to be made. These transfer the signal by keeping the Luminance and the Chroma signal separated to eliminate cross color. This feature plus the width of the tape and high transport speed permit lossless edit transfers. |

9-PIN CONTROL CABLE
On the Broadcast machines, such as the BVU-800 and BVU-900 series, a 9-pin remote cable is used to control all tape functions and editing controls. This 9-pin cable looks identical to a VGA cable for computers. It allows one editor to control the functions of another editor or control of up to eight editors through and external controller such as BVE-900 or BVE-910. Additional formats such as Beta BVW and 1" BVH machines use this cable. This cable also prevents electrical noise from interfereing with the video or audio signal purity. |

3-PIN XLR CABLE
Most professional video machines us 3-pin XLR connectors for their sound/microphone connections. These connectors provide a locked connection when attached and give a better quality than an RCA cable (red and white connectors found on consumer equipment). These connectors are vital if the video needs to have sound recorded. |

 | 4-PIN XLR CABLE
4-pin XLR connectors are used to power a portable machines, such as the VO-6800 or VO-8800, when the batteries are not available. These connectors are found on all portable recorders and on Sony power supplies that are used to power cameras and recorders at the same time. |
 | BNC CABLE
The most common connector in professional video is the BNC connector. This quarter turn connector is esentially a co-ax connector that attaches faster than the screw connector found on the back of most television sets. These cables are vital to connecting any pro equipment together. |
